Update

Well I left Doha on March 21st to fly to Utah for the expected baby. We thought they may induce Ashley on March 17th. Her fluid levels have stayed up and the baby's heart beat has done very well so......we are still waiting. Her actual due date is April 6th so we really are on the home stretch now. She still has to have an NST test twice a week and see the doctor once a week. We have tried all of the wive's tail things like walking, eating eggplant etc.... to help things along. Anyway, as soon as things happen Emily (our daughter in law) will take pictures and we will post ASAP.

More on the service project..."when you are in service of your fellow beings you are in the service of your God"!

Eating!

This was a drop off point we could not actually deliver them of course.

Apparently, the feedback is they all went crazy!

Just smelling it........

As I mentioned before this was joy beyond joy! Thanks to all who baked!

Service is priceless!

An opportunity was given to do some service for Easter. So I organized a group of youth (young women)and mom's from our church and wives from CPChem to bake and bake and bake for the soliders. I ended up with alot more stuff than I planned so I had to get help from two neighbors to deliver. It took three shopping carts. We delivered them yesterday. We had three large Easter Baskets (hand stamped cards of course!),two boxes, two large shopping bags and three individual bags of all homemade goodies. All baked fresh Saturday or Sunday. It was a great joy!I will be posting a bit later the feedback pictures that will be sent to me.

Ashley pregnant at 35 weeks!

This is our darling daughter Ashley at 35 weeks. She just found out today that she is on bedrest until delivery. The baby does not have enough fluid to go full term. Currently the baby is doing good. They are doing tests today and again on Thursday, unless the test results go up (meaning more fluid for the baby) they will enduce her on Monday or Tuesday March 17th or 18th. I will be flying out on March 21 to be there. Please pray for her and the new baby!

A Doha Moment!

This is another Doha Days! I was driving home and saw two men holding hands. Now it is common here to see that. Apparently, they are just friends. But this really made me laugh. I did not have my camera with me (wish I did) so you will have to picture this in your head. Two workers (probably from India or Bangladesh etc.) in their brown jumpsuits, red checkered headress wrapped tighly around their heads and across the face to cut out the wind. One man had a shovel over his shoulder the other man had a large pick over his shoulder. They were holding hands by two fingers, pinky and the ring finger. But this is the part I had to laugh. They were swinging their arms! I was waiting for them to start skipping. It reminded me of the Seven Dwarfs.

What things do we do over here?

We decorate camels of course! These are the two I made. It is fun to load up our camels with all of the things that represent this part of the world. If these were real camels they would die with the weight we have placed upon them.

Doha Days!

From time to time I will post Doha Days! This is either something seen, said or done that is completely different than what we are use to. Funny or ridiculous. Here is an example of camels. Notice the one drinking the water bottle.

Tribute to Pres.Gordon B Hinckley

My thoughts have turned to a dear and wonderful man of God, Pres. Hinckley. As I listened to parts of his funeral and other tributes on the internet so far away, tears streamed down my face. I am so grateful for the life and example of this wonderful man, prophet, seer and revelator. I remember two specific times when I was in his presence where the spirit was so strong and I knew, we all knew, he was a prophet of God. The first was in Houston at the Astrodome where he came to speak. As he entered the stadium in a golf cart and we all stood and sang, my heart was so full. I turned to my children who were still young and said, "do you feel it, he is the prophet." Next, was in the dedication of the Houston Texas Temple. I was on the stake public affairs at the time and we did all of the special tours for the Mayor and other important visitors. I was given tickets to attend an inside room and as he walked around the corner he peaked his head in, smiled and gently waved. That very same feeling came upon me again. An overwhelming peace, love and a strong knowledge of truth. I find joy in knowing he is reunited with his wife. I love him and he will be missed.
